Development

At Foothills Academy, philanthropy is a deep-seated value rooted in the belief in the power of individuals to affect change, nourish our community and the world. Philanthropy underpins the health of our school and is so fundamental that we cultivate it in students through community service and service-learning, components of Foothills' curriculum.

Community-based funding affirms the value of a Foothills' education reaching beyond knowledge to nurturing socially responsible citizens. Moreover, our emphasis on giving offers concrete benefits to donors: contained tuition costs, tax benefits, donation designation, and increased opportunities for funding from other charitable sources, such as foundations.

For those who wish to contribute, there are multiple ways. Find below a brief description of various opportunities. If you wish more detailed information about any of them, contact the Development Office, 303-431-0920 or
development@foothills-academy.org.

Contributions are most welcome. We appreciate your consideration of a gift to Foothills.

Ways to Give to Foothills Academy

Beyond Tuition: The Annual Fund
The Annual Fund directly supports the operating budget and bridges the gap between the cost of educating students and the revenue received from tuition. Beyond Tuition donations support every student and faculty member by providing resources including tuition assistance, professional development, maintenance, equipment, and program support such as underwriting outings.

The Annual Fund relies on direct donations which are fully tax deductible. Even greater tax benefits are available through the Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit for those earmarking donations for early childhood education. Such donations qualify for a 50% Colorado State Tax Credit in addition to the customary tax deduction.

Capital Gifts
Donations to the Capital Gifts fund provide for construction, major building and grounds repair and maintenance, technology improvements and expenditures that fall outside the operating budget. Currently, the Bond Reduction Campaign comprises a significant component of Foothills' Capital Fund.

The Bond Reduction Campaign - Foothills' first capital campaign in 1994 through the most recent campaign in 2002, resulted in the issuance of bonds. Currently, bonds for the construction of the 7- 12 Building and the adjoining technology and science laboratories are being serviced through the operating budget. The Bond Reduction Campaign aims to reduce or eliminate this debt and its impact on the operating budget.

Donations to Capital Gifts and the Bond Reduction Campaign are fully tax deductible and provide opportunities for naming to honor donors and those they wish to acknowledge.

Endowment & Scholarship Funds
Endowment & Scholarship funds generate revenue while maintaining intact principle to provide financial assistance to deserving students. Within this fund, named funds offer scholarships to deserving students. For specific information about Endowment and Scholarship Funds, contact the Development Office, 303-431-0920 or development@foothills-academy.org.

Donations to Foothills' Endowment and Scholarship funds are fully tax deductible.

Volunteering & Gifts in Kind

Volunteering
Foothills relies on the generosity of supporters who not only make financial donations, but volunteer time and donate goods and services to meet the school's needs. These good-will gifts take numerous forms and include volunteering in the classroom, assisting with office tasks, and serving on various committees to support the school's needs, events and traditions. Such donations provide needed help while enriching the school's ability to educate students and fostering community. Contact the Volunteer Office at
cchurchey@foothills-academy.org if you are interested in helping.

Gifts in Kind
Foothills is able to accept gifts in-kind when these meet the needs of the school. Please contact the Development Office 303-431-0920 or
development@foothills-academy.org, if you have items or expertise that might be of benefit.
Foothills is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation able to provide tax receipts for donations determined to be of use to the school.
