Welcome to Foothills Academy.
"Dear Friends,
Foothills Academy is an independent, pre-kindergarten through 12th grade day school in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The seven-acre village-like campus is accessibly located just south of Interstate 70 and attracts students throughout the greater Denver area.
Foothills Academy was founded in 1984 by a determined group of parents who sought an engaging, high quality school for their children, one distinguished by dedication to students and fostering the love of learning while developing learning skills. In short, the founders of Foothills Academy resolved to establish a school where students would be happily engaged in becoming capable, motivated and productive young people equipped to achieve goals and contribute to the world.

Small by design and dedicated to each student as an individual, a quarter of a century later Foothills Academy has grown to be an educational leader in Colorado. A recent reaccredidation report by the National Association of Independent Schools commends Foothills, not only for its distinguished mission, but for the noteworthy way this mission infuses the day-to-day experiences of each student.
I invite you to discover Foothills Academy -- visit our campus, talk with our teachers and our very best ambassadors, our students. Our students will tell you about their school, a singular place."
Sincerely,
Charlie Szumilas, Head of School
What we do.
It is our mission to inspire and educate our students through a curriculum of academic excellence in an environment that honors each child’s unique portfolio of knowledge, skills, style, interests and aspirations. We envision a school community where each child experiences purpose in self-discovery, meaning in relationships and joy in community. Foothills is built on a strong foundation of curricular integration and variety, differentiated instruction, experiential learning, service to the community and global perspective. We are a community that nutures and values diversity, independence, respect and compassion.
